Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Jaipur, came into existence during World War I (1914 - 1918) as Zonal Recruiting Office Ajmer. It was downgraded to Branch Recruiting Office in 1932 and placed under the administrative control of the then Recruiting Office, Delhi. With the commencement of World War II, during Oct/Nov 1939 the Branch Recruiting Office, Ajmer again assumed the status of a Headquarters Recruiting and remained functional till the cessation of hostilities. Later it once again resumed functioning as Headquarters Recruiting Zone on 01 Apr 1958. It was shifted to Jaipur being the State Capital in 1998. Lt Col Chandan Singh was the first Zonal Recruiting Officer (ZRO) from 22 Apr 1958 to 05 Feb 1961. The appointment has now been renamed as Deputy Director General Recruiting (Raj). It has five Army Recruiting Offices namely at Jaipur, Alwar, Kota, Jodhpur and Jhunjunu which periodicallyconduct rallies for all 33 districts of Rajasthan.
